Frequently Asked Questions: Esusu Rent Reporting
How does reporting monthly rent payments to credit bureaus raise my credit score? Reporting positive payment history to major credit bureaus can assist with building credit. Esusu does not report negative payment data, including late payments, to credit bureaus. How may my credit score change when Esusu reporting begins? Though there are many variables (such as the amount of open and closed accounts on your report) that impact your score, you can expect a slight and temporary decrease in your score when you begin the Esusu program. As your on-time payments are reported, the credit bureaus will recognize that you are consistently paying what you owe in rent. They will see this as an indicator that you deserve a higher score.
How long may it take to see an improvement in my credit score? The effects of reporting on-time rental payments are not immediate. It can take up to eight weeks to see an impact on your credit reports.
How do I opt-out of the Esusu program? As a reminder, Esusu does not report any negative payment data to credit bureaus. If you prefer to opt-out of Esusu, you may opt-out at any time. To do so, email RentSupport@Esusu.org with your full name, home address, and a request to opt-out of the program.
